I recently took an intensive course with Paul Higham (8 hours over 5 days) and passed my test on Saturday 22nd July.
I would like to pass on some feedback about Paul.
I was essentially a nervous driver who had failed her test twice before and had a number of instructors. Paul has to have been the best instructor I have had. He was calm and patient and always congratulated me when I successfully completed a manoeuvre, or dealt with a situation well. Both of which really increased my confidence. He was easy to talk to and I always left the lesson feeling that I had got the most out of each session.
I felt that he added-value to the course by talking to me about situations I may find myself in when driving and discussing how best to approach these. But one of the best things I found with Paul was that there was never a regimented schedule for each lesson. He had planned what we would do but if I had something I wanted to concentrate on we would work this into the lesson. Also, he made the best use of the time in each lesson, for example if we were completing a new manoeuvre and I was struggling with it, he would allow me to try a number of times then he would suggest we try something different for a while. Later in the lesson we would attempt the manoeuvre again and invariably, given a fresh perspective, I would be able to complete it successfully. This really helped me to consolidate what I was learning.
